    a quiet week in England...
Figured it was past time I updated... was strange going back for a full week of work after having some time off during both of the past too...

got some cool stuff for Christmas, picked up some awesome speakers for myself - (check out these if you are in the market, quite tasty for the money imho - www.athenaspeakers.com/modelS3.htm)... I also had a very nice time visiting a friend up in Yorkshire. The city of York looks very cool, and I will definitely be going back when I have more time to explore. My friend Lynn and her family were wonderful hosts, and it was nice to spend a few days with a family, since I was so far from my own...

New Years was much more quiet, a friend invited me out to a local pub to ring in the New Year, it was nice going out, but the place packed out and everyone but me was getting pretty blasted, so I snuck out before the actual stroke of midnight, wandered home, and enjoyed the Jools Holland HOOTENANNY www.joolsholland.com for those who have no idea who/what I'm talking about) - some truly excellent music. I doubt I'd get a ticket for next years NY show, but I do think I'll try to score some tickets for one of his regular shows...

I've been trying to get out more on the week nights, and weekends - just visiting and meeting more local people. It seemed I was either on a "trip" or at home, and thus I'm not really getting a feeling of this being my home. We'll see if I have any success in shifting that.

well, I'll leave it at that for the moment...

today it was a good day
sorry about not writing lately, not sure what my problem is...

went off and explored Warwick Castle with a friend... nice to get out and explore a bit, and enjoy some real life conversation that doesn't center around work...

tomorrow a friend and former co-worker from OKC is coming over... he's been working at a base quite a ways away, and we finally both have time to get together... he used to work at one of the bases I work at, so he's interested to see how things have changed...

i'm also hoping to get out to see "Return of the King" sometime before Christmas... hard to get to a theater here, none very close... but if I bite the bullet and go late some night Monday or Tuesday I should make it...

I'm off to visit another friend for Christmas, she kindly invited me around to her families to enjoy a "traditional English Christmas" dinner... I'm looking forward to it, hopefully I'm not too shy...

oh well, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and all that stuff... enjoy yourselves and travel safely...

whoohoo - home safe - great trip
just under 4 days in Northern Ireland...

    - flew in Thursday early afternoon, met everyone, got the tour of the house, had a magnificent Thanksgiving Dinner! and I stuffed myself until I thought I was going to have to ask them to roll me out of dining room!

    - next day, site seeing most of the day, and visiting LipstickFM that eve, including a short cover spot of DJing... oh, and a Ulster Fry meal prepared by Hobbes wife Susan... mmmm (an Ulster Fry - is a tradition meal prepared in the Ulster section of Ireland (which includes Northern Ireland) - it is several types of fried breads/pancakes, plus several types of fried meats and puddings (including "Black Pudding), etc. it was most excellent...

    - next day, site seeing most of the day, took the family out for supper at the same place you did i believe, and we came back, visited, and then did two DJ shows together, including 1 that went until after 3 AM... it was a blast - Mark/Hobbes is the MAN...

today we slept in, watched a movie, and Mark dropped me at the airport - easy trip home...

I'll try to get pics from the trip up later... though the weather didn't bother me in the least, it was a bit dark and rainy during the siteseeing, so not sure how many pics will be worth posting, but the landscape was beautiful, so hopefully some will do it justice...

    sweet sleep
Well, the plane is fixed, and the guys that traveled over are back safe and sound in the States. I took some time off Friday afternoon and crashed for a while. So far this weekend has consisted of watching movies, listening to online radio, and sleep - which is exactly what I needed.

I did get some stuff done yesterday, including yet more pics up on www.waywardyank.co.uk - so if you are ultra-board, please dig through and see what you think...

I'm off to Northern Ireland for "Thanksgiving". I'm going to visit a friend and his family and see the sites. We are also going to celebrate what may be the first Thanksgiving Dinner in Northern Ireland - haha.

    work work work
got a few minutes between engine runs, thought I'd hop on and blog a bit... I was hoping we'd have this nut cracked by now, but sadly - no... looks like all day Sunday work is in the cards...

everyone is staying in a reasonably good mood considering the situation and the fact that we are huddled around an airplane instead of off doing whatever else we would be doing... the guys that came in from the states are enjoying the thrill of driving on the left for the first time on the tiny little roads in this part of England, but as scary as that is, its probably not as bad as the ride I gave them when I picked them up from the airport, hehe...

looking forward to a night of my favorite www.lipstickfm.com DJs - will be nice to wind down to some good tunes and chat...

well, not long until my ride back out to the line shows, so I'll sign off...

other than that - work... drove to London and back this morning to pick up some fellow aero types, and we'll be busy for the next week or so straight...

I cleaned most of my house!!!
all I can say is whoa... I had a day off of work, and after paying my respects for Veterans Day, I got busy and cleaned... whoohooo!

Though nobody ever sees the place other than me, it is nice to spin around and see places to sit, areas to walk, no stacks of computer parts, etc... Now all I need to do is sort out my mountain of cables and wires around my computer, and I'll really be amazed...

not much else happening here... work looks like it will be picking up for the next couple of weeks, and I will most likely be working through this weekend... next big plans on the agenda are for a trip to Northern Ireland (haven't been there yet) to visit a friend, check out the place, and celebrate Thanksgiving in a place where they normally don't... I'll try to write again soon, and something more exciting than my cleaning habits (or lack thereof)

    quick update
I've found some things I need to fix on the info I dropped out on my site, and found some pics I want to roll into the Cambridge section, so if stuff is down / back up / down again / changed, etc - you will know why...

I can already tell I'm going to run out of room long before I get the pics I was thinking of posting up, so I will probably cut down on some of those that have been up a while in favor of some that I haven't put up yet... I'm hoping to get the problems I've found sorted out, and a couple more albums of pics up tonight...

not much going on other than werk at the moment... I'm currently thinking about auditioning for a local band - singer... the band I was hoping to have a shot at was supposed to call but didn't , so not sure what happened... there are lots of others, but I'd really like to sing stuff that I like... if I get too picky, the options dwindle quickly... would be a major time commitment, and with all the traveling I've been enjoying - it just may not be a great idea to commit to something that will eat a lot of weekends... we'll see

off to mess with some stuff for the site...

    I actually knew something!?!
off to bed soon... I just recalled something that happened to me in London the other day that was a defining moment in my time in England.

A Londoner asked me Tube directions, AND I KNEW THE ANSWER!!! I don't feel so completely out of place anymore. Don't get me wrong, I claim no special level of knowledge of this great place I'm living in, but it helped to think I knew a tiny bit.

well, off to sleep... werk in the morning - sigh...

    sick, but getting better
well, not much happening here... i felt like crud this morning, so I called into work and went back to sleep... I wound up asleep for 17 straight hours, not even a trip to the toilet... wheew

I feel like much better tonight. I'm hoping I'm all the way better tomorrow, as I'm off to a party a few hours away. It isn't really a "Halloween" party, it just happens to be on that night... friend of some friends is visiting from the States, and they invited me to join in...

if you listen to www.lipstickfm.com tomorrow night (night UK time), you may just hear me in the background...

here is something I saw in chat tonight that I thought was funny - it takes a while to load, but I thought it was worth it - http://frozencore.net/endoftheworld.swf

    website is partially revamped
my site - www.waywardyank.co.uk is back up with some changes... I'm hoping to get a bunch more digital photos in albums and get them up very soon... I have pics from Ireland, Holland, Scotland, and several more places in England all sitting on my hard drive waiting patiently for me to do something with them...

I also tossed up my webcam for a bit last night to see if everything was working... amazingly, as many as 12 people at once were watching me make a fool of myself, trying to think of everything and anything that might be remotely interesting, or at least laugh inducing... not sure when I'll be on, but I guess if I'm chatting somewhere and people are bored enough, I can always fire it up...

werk was the usual, but it was quiet enough for me to work on a design for a tool that I've been thinking about for a while that should help some of the guys get better and quicker results, so that was cool - I don't get much "design" work in this job, so I have to make my own opportunities...

    enough for now...

there has to be a first...
    TAAADAAAAAAAAAA!

Well, I hope I keep up with this better than most of my other "projects". Just a regular werk day today, but yesterday was a very nice trip to London. Meeting a friend, great conversation, good Italian food at Pollos, a lovely cha Siu bow (sweet barbecued pork bun/dumpling), several walks all over the Leicester Square area... all in all a most excellent day.

If you want to visit England, I love tour guiding. I claim no special skill, but I love the trips and the chance to visit.

well, off to work on one of my other "projects", the website that never gets done...
